CSAS HOLDS INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR IN COLLABORATION WITH UK UNIVERSITIES & UNIVERSITY OF POONCH RAWALAKOT


The Centre for South Asian Studies in collaboration with Forum for Educational Policy & Research (FEPR)- UK, Center for Leadership & Empowerment, University of Greater Manchester-UK, University of Poonch-Rawalakot, AJK & University of Bolton-UK, organized an international webinar on “Cultural Dynamics & Policy interventions: Educational Pathways to Women Empowerment” on April 28, 2025. The event brought together global experts, policy-makers, educators and development professionals, to explore how education can be harnessed to empower women and girls across diverse contexts.

The scholars from Turkiye, Afghnaistan, UK, Nigeria & Pakistan presented their papers in the Webinar. Sayed Hamid, Doctoral Researcher at University of Bolton discussed and examined public policy framework for female education in post-conflict nations. Prof. Fazl Ul Hadi Wazeen, Professor of Political Science, Ankara-Turkiye talked about the challenges faced by Afghan women in attaining education. Prof. Dr. Naheed S. Goraya, Director CSAS highlighted gender equality and women empowerment in modern-day Pakistan. Dr. Goraya said that gender equality has gained significant recognition and importance in recent years as societies strive towards achieving more inclusive and equitable environments for all individuals. She stressed that women need to be linked, informed and educated because it is essential to achieve sustainable and peaceful societies. Dr. Muhammad Ishaq, Module Leader: Post Graduate Research & Methodological Approaches: Ulster University, UK discussed about empowering female administrators and academic leaders through strategic objectives. Prof. Dr. Zakria Zakar, Vice Chancellor, University of Poonch, Rawalakot shed light on the role of leadership in 21st century. Prof. Christian Harrison, Director Centre for Leadership & Empowerment, University of Greater Manchester, UK debated on the reflections, conclusions and the future. The program was concluded by Dr. Imran Khan Suddahazai, External Director of Studies, Doctoral Research Program, University of Greater Manchester, UK.

The speakers examined successful educational strategies and interventions for women’s empowerment. It was unanimously recommended that the governments need to increase investments in girl’s education, especially in underserved regions. The webinar concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Imran Khan Suddhahzai, summarizing the key insights and encouraging continued collaboration across sectors. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing education as a strategic pathway for empowering women globally. The audience were engaged from different countries and had a detailed Q & A session.
